AVDG Lends a Helping Hand

Company News

One of the most rewarding days for us at AVDG, is our company’s Community Service Day. For the last few years, we have been supporting Rebuilding Together Petaluma through sponsorship of their projects and by supplying some good old-fashioned manual (mostly unskilled) labor.

This year AVDG and Rebuilding Together Petaluma lent some helping hands to the Petaluma People Services Center, a organization that provides over 53 human services programs to the people of Petaluma including counseling, job placement, hot meals and housing assistance.

On this most recent workday, we and a host of other volunteers remodeled their kitchen, repainted several rooms, cleaned out gutters and gave a fresh face to the landscaping throughout.  Check out some of the before and after. The rest of the photos can be viewed on our Facebook Page.

Conferencing Solution: Earthworks Ceiling Microphones

Recent Projects

Audio Visual Design Group recently completed an installation for a website optimization platform company in San Francisco that required superior performance from ceiling located microphones which can be very challenging. As Aaron Obstfeld, Director of Technical Services  explains the primary audio challenge with this installation: “Ceiling mics by nature are difficult to make sound good due to the distance from participants and the unintended sound they can pick up. These rooms themselves were acoustically challenging as well.” Our team selected the Earthwork IM3 C30 microphones to address this challenge.

Our New Office in Southern California Now Open

Company News

Today we are proud to announce that our new office in Los Alamitos is officially open for business. The Southern California office will offer sales and support along with a dedicated technical services team. This is the latest in our expansion effort aimed at placing technical services teams in key markets furthering our commitment to concierge level support for our clients. Last year we opened an office in the Silicon Valley and our 4th office in Sacramento is scheduled to open early next year. In addition to these new offices we have doubled our technical services staff.

“Many of our clients have offices in Southern California and this move allows us to easily service them and the entire state. I’ve assembled, what I feel, to be the best team available in the Southern California market.” said Founder & CEO, Robert E. Scharffer.

Scharffer tapped John Miles, a former Regional Vice President for AVI-SPL as Director of Operations for Southern California. John is a 35 year industry veteran who has overseen operations generating in excess of $150M in revenue. He has also been the Executive Manger to multi-million dollar national and international projects including those for the United States Army, Boeing, Honda of America, University of Southern California (USC) and Hilton Hotels.

“The Southern California market has no shortage of audio visual integrators, the challenge is finding one with sufficient qualified technical resources who understand what it takes to commission that last 5-10% of a job on-time/on- budget, consistently,” said John Miles, Director of Operations. “Since its inception, AVDG has always done a great job of managing their client’s expectations as well as providing extremely capable technical support – this new regional office will reflect that commitment.”

Russ Walker, Executive Account Manager adds, “Our commitment is to listen carefully to our Southern California clients and prospects and then deliver a solution that meets and exceeds their expectations. We are committed to providing the highest level of design and integration services on a consistent basis. The characteristics of understanding client needs, innovative design, high quality integration services, and excellence in after-sale-support, are what separate us from other providers.”

We’ll host an official Open House event for our clients, vendors and industry partners in September. More information on that will follow.

All questions related to projects and/or hiring opportunities for this new office should be directed to our Southern California Director of Operations, John Miles- john.miles@AVDG.com or (877)554-2834
