Our Mission: Bringing Environments to Life
AVDG is pleased to announce the hiring of Timothy Hill as General Manager of the company’s Eastern U.S. operations.
Hill brings a wealth of experience to the position, spanning more than two decades in systems integration and technology design. In his new role, Hill will oversee AVDG’s expansion throughout the East, leading operations at the company’s offices in Nashua, New Hampshire; Boston, Massachusetts; and Naples, Florida.
“Timothy Hill is a tremendous asset for AVDG as we expand our national presence into the North- and Southeast,” said Doug Carnell, Vice President of Business Solutions at Guitar Center, AVDG’s parent company. “Hill is a proven leader with an extensive track record in business growth and operational management. We’re thrilled to have him join the AVDG team.”
Hill has 25 years of experience in visual communications. Most recently, he was Vice President of Engineering at AVI-SPL, where he established engineering standards, overseeing the management of an international team of more than 350 engineers. He was the founder of OmniPresence, an audio visual and video conferencing integrator, from 2002 to 2011, where he served as the Chief Technology Officer until its acquisition by Carousel Industries.
“I’m excited to be part of AVDG at a time of phenomenal growth,” said Hill. “I look forward to working with the company’s skilled teams to expand the company’s commercial and residential business in the East, and transform it from a small single-owner operation to a profitable piece of AVDG.”
As General Manager, Hill will provide leadership at all levels of the organization and will oversee day-to-day business operations at AVDG, including hiring, training and mentoring department managers and employees.
Interview with Timothy Hill
We assembled the following Q&A with Timothy Hill to get his perspective on the AV industry and his transition to joining AVDG.
What attracted you to join the AVDG family?
I’d heard great things about AVDG, its leading approach to audio visual integration, and its leadership teams. And once I heard that Doug Carnell was at the helm, that was all I needed to hear – Doug’s reputation in the AV world is unmatched, and I believe we will work well together as we expand AVDG’s presence throughout the East Coast.
What experiences and skills do you believe will benefit your new role at AVDG?
I have managed and led teams of all sizes in the audio visual and unified communications (UC) industry. I previously founded and managed my own AV company from one employee through acquisition, and then managed the integration of the company into a larger corporation. I also managed the largest engineering team in the industry for 5 years. Through this experience, I’ve gained extensive knowledge of all facets of the business, and I’m excited to leverage that knowledge as we expand AVDG in the East.
What do you like best about being in the AV integration industry? What motivates you?
One of the best things about being in the AV industry is that almost every other industry can benefit from AV / UC in some way. I enjoy helping companies create their AV / UC standards, so that employees use the technology without even thinking about it—it becomes just second nature.
What goals are most important to you in the years ahead?
The most important goal for me is employee job satisfaction and their work/life balance. I’m a firm believer in “take care of your employees and they will take care of your customers.”
What technologies or innovations are you most excited about?
When it comes to technology, I feel the move to simplicity is the most exciting. When you can take a very advanced set of technologies and make them simple and intuitive for the customer, that is a win.
We’re excited for the future of AVDG with Tim Hill as part of it.
