position summary: commercial design engineer

AVDG is seeking an exceptional AV Design Engineer who will collaborate with our sales professionals to create unique designs to present clients, based on their requirements, with systems & solutions that fulfill their needs and timelines. You will be an SME being a technical liaison for our sales team and clients. You accomplish this through comprehensive design review, thorough communication throughout the project, and bills of material.

This position is a critical part of driving revenue for AVDG in client development by forming and developing long-lasting client partnerships & collaborating with team members to maintain the account on all levels.

The ideal candidate has a technical astute AV background that enables you to conceptualize systems designs from scratch and understand all facets of an AV project, from cabling to commissioning, including vendor products. You must have the ability to develop meaningful business relationships with clients, internal team members, vendors, and service orientated.

responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Conceptualize from scratch AV systems designs for AVDG clients and companies.
  • Respond to requests for proposals promptly.
  • Collaborate and keep communication ongoing for projects with Clients, Sales, CAD, and Tech Ops team members.
  • Produce detailed scopes of work, RFI’s, bills of materials, and block diagrams.
  • Generate bid responses, installation estimations internally and through soliciting outside vendor resources.
  • Assist and perform client site visits for initial surveys, customer liaison for engineering inquiries, ongoing technical assessment, & support for tech ops during integration, installation, & commissioning
  • Provide complete consultant-level drawing sets and post-sales project consultation.
  • Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products and new technologies.


to join our band, you’ll need the following experience:

  • CTS-D and, or CTS-I highly preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in AV systems design highly desired in a commercial environment;  or
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of AV experience plus a four-year degree in electronics or related field preferred, or military experience in related field and qualifications
  • A thorough, demonstrable understanding of systems integration techniques
  • High proficiency with computer-aided drafting software, CAD or Visio, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access) required
  • Crestron Certifications are highly desired and experienced with various AV systems QSC, Biamp, DSP, and networking.
  • Associate is to be fully vaccinated, per the CDC Definition.
