Robert Scharffer has more than 32 years’ experience in the audiovisual industry. As founder and director of AVDG, Robert supervises the facilities and system design of audiovisual system integration projects. Prior to founding AVDG, Robert was president and partner of Anderson Audio Visual – East Bay, LLC and Anderson Audio Visual – Sacramento, LP and was a senior project designer at MCSI (formerly Intellisys Group, EISI and EIS). Robert was also formerly a senior consultant at Lewitz and Associates Inc. and a consultant for Paoletti Associates (formerly Paoletti/Lewitz/Associates) in their San Francisco office. As a senior consultant, he was responsible for system design drawings, written performance specifications, installation supervision and final inspection and adjustment for audio, video, projection and control systems.
Before joining Paoletti/Lewitz/Associates in 1987, Mr. Scharffer was a staff technician for the Hubert Wilke Organization in their Los Angeles and New York offices. As a staff technician, he was responsible for design drawing, establishing architectural and electromechanical requirements for integration of new audiovisual systems for architects and building owners for use in business, advertising, education and entertainment. Robert received an Associate’s Degree from the National Education Center in Arizona.
David Welles is the director of sales at AVDG and former founder of TVTI, a leading provider of lighting control systems that was acquired by AVDG in 2019. As an entrepreneur, team leader and industry authority, David has helped supply the vision and high standards that our teams embody in their work every day. He is focused on client satisfaction and innovation. He is known for always making himself accessible to clients, as well as the AVDG team.
David loves ever-changing technology and has a passion for creating solutions for clients who are looking for answers. In his free time, he is an avid golfer and gamer, and he loves spending time with his wife, Lauren, and two daughters, Mayson and Kendall.
John V. Campanella has more than 37 years’ experience in the audiovisual industry, spanning all disciplines of design/engineering/consulting, programming, integration and manufacturing. Prior to joining AVDG, John was a founding partner at Nebula9 Technologies (2010-2017), an integration and app development company, and a founding partner and CEO of MDCI (1996-2016). As Principal at Cerami Associates (1994-1996), John spearheaded the AV Consulting/Design division, leading thousands of AV design engineering and programming projects.
Prior to joining Cerami, he was an original partner and head of AV Consulting/Design with Shen Milsom & Wilke (1987-1994) and formerly served at Blonder Tongue Labs (1981-1986) in AV product manufacturing and integration. To date, John’s project responsibility covers over 5,000 completed projects, spanning corporate, residential, education, government, and military environments. John was also the co-author of the lnfoComm CTS-D course in 1996 and the sole author of the 1st re-write/update in 2006, where he was awarded lnfoComm Educator of the Year for 2006. John is also a Masters Certified Crestron programmer, having programmed Crestron systems since 1988 and was the very first third-party programmer for Crestron. John is proficient in XCode, AutoCAD, DTools, DSP audio programming and many graphic development programs.
